Panhandle Promise Project Programs

Youth program

Monthly events and a fun filled summer camp make up the core of our youth program here at the Panhandle Promise Project. Promise Camp is provided to each youth enrolled in the program, at no charge. Camp brings 4 days to the summer of each youth where they get to enjoy being young and carefree; all of the everyday worries of life are put aside and they focus only on swimming, hiking, team building activities and building relationships.

Mentoring

We have found out that having a positive influencer in their life starting at a young age, helps create characteristics, beliefs and values that set them up to do great things later in life. We pair up our youth to a mentor who becomes that positive influence. These mentors meet with them once a week for lunch or breakfast at school and get the opportunity to invest into these amazing young people! Building this relationship helps our youth develop healthy relationships with adults they can trust.  More about mentoring.....

Family Support

It is vital to the success of our young people that are a part of the Panhandle Promise Project for their families to be right by their side. We provide many opportunities for the youth and their families to come together at no charge, have a meal together and interact doing some sort of activity. Our monthly activities can be a nature hike, cook-out, dinner at a restaurant and many other fun outings. The Panhandle Promise Project team is able to provide a positive, stress free and supportive environment to the families at these monthly events.

Refer a child

Children’s caregivers, teachers, counselors, or social workers can initiate the enrollment process. The application process includes a brief phone interview with the caregiver and must also include an interview with a non-family member with direct knowledge of the child’s behavior and needs.

Summer Camp

The biggest treat Panhandle Promise Project gives to the children is a free summer camp.  It is our goal to be able to receive enough donations from our wonderful community so that we can spend money on camp activities.  Donations can come in many forms: food, toiletry products, towels, cleaning supplies, art supplies, chapstick, and so much more!

Many times camp locations have paid activities, such as a swimming pool or ropes course.  By receiving donations, Promise Project can spend money on these kinds of activities.  If you are more of a hands-on type of person, fill out a volunteer application to spend a couple of summer days with our amazing children!  If you can only attend part of the total camp time, that is fine as well, we appreciate all the help we can get!
